LEAN'S @ ATRIA SHOPPING GALLERY

Tong sui are a Cantonese specialty. If you've grown up in a Cantonese family, you must have had tong sui before. The term 'tong sui' literally means 'sugar water'. It is a collective term for any sweet, warm soup or custard served as a dessert at the end of a meal in Cantonese cuisine. My dad is a huge fan of tong sui : red bean soup, peanut soup, barley ginkgo and black sesame soup being his favorite. I'm not really a tong sui person but I remember seeing this Lean's place in Atria that sells a variety of desserts, including tong sui , nyonya kuihs and light meals, so I brought my dad there to try when my parents came over. It was afternoon teatime when we arrived. We were feeling a little hungry, so we ordered 2 nasi lemak bungkus, a cucur udang, steam cakes for my LO, black sesame cream, barley ginkgo and bubur cha cha. Nasi Lemak bungkus (RM3.70). Cucur udang (RM3). Pandan and vanilla steam cake (RM1.50 each). Nasi lemak is a famous lo

MEATLESS LOTUS ROOT SOUP

My parents are over for a visit and will be here for a week, so it's busy, busy and busy; Busy cleaning up the house (before they arrive), busy clearing the fridge, busy being their driver, busy bringing them to their favorite places to eat/bringing them to try some new food or restaurants etc etc. Lol. You know how people say even when you've grown up, you will always be a baby/kid in your parents' eyes... That's so true. E very time they come over, they will bring LOTSA seafood (Coz I love eating them!) - fish, prawns, scallops and crabs (That's the reason why we need to clear the fridge before they arrive :P).   They say that it's much cheaper and fresher in East Malaysia, which is true.  They even bring Bario/brown/highland rice over and say it's healthier and unprocessed, therefore  it's better for us, especially my LO.  Though I told them it's heavy, I don't want them to carry such load and hurt themselves, but they still continue to bring

BUSABA THAI @ SUNWAY RESORT HOTEL & SPA

Thai cuisine is one of my hubby's favorites and the recent Thai restaurant we went to surprised us. I seldom visit Sunway Pyramid shopping mall (Honestly, I find the parking kinda confusing, and ever since they closed the entrance that I usually enter, I was even more reluctant to go >.<) but I've seen this Busaba Thai restaurant a couple of times while passing by - The 2 wooden horse decos at the entrance really do stick out like a sore thumb! :P Since we were at the mall last weekend and were sick of eating the usual same restaurants/food found in most malls, we decided to give it a try and were truly glad we did. Busaba Thai Restaurant is located beside the Pinnacle Sunway, which houses EGG (Eight Gourmet Gala), on the right side of Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa main entrance. You will definitely not miss the two spectacular iconic wooden horses standing at the entrance, and when we pushed the door open, we were immediately smitten by the lavish and swanky interior d

CRANBERRY COOKIES

Meant to make these earlier but had been kinda busy and then LO wasn't feeling too well. Since she's better already and her appetite improved quite a bit today, compared to the past few days, I decided to make these cranberry cookies for afternoon teatime. The reason I chose this recipe was because it is one of the very few that uses fresh cranberries (The rest mostly uses dried ones), and it looked simple enough :P. These moist cake-like cookies with lotsa finely chopped fresh cranberries are simply delicious! If you are a cranberry lover, I'll highly recommend to try this recipe out. It's definitely a keeper and I'm thinking maybe next time I'll try adding some chocolate chips or chopped walnuts, just for some extra crunch :D  They are moist and full of wonderful flavors. And they look like oatmeal cookies with pieces of bright red cranberries in them :) <Adapted from an online recipe> Ingredients: (Makes 12 cookies) 50g unsalted butter,

WISH I COULD SLOW DOWN TIME...

Motherhood doesn't look anything like what I had imagined when I was young - sweet birthday parties with pretty fondant cakes, beautiful princess dresses or pink tutus etc. Well, those moments are there, but while they are beautiful, they don't really matter in the life journey. There are days, weeks and months that are hard. There are many moments when I have no idea how I’m going to make it til bedtime. There are times I've messed up. There are times where I've done well, and times when I've been there - wiping faces, rocking and comforting a toddler after a nightmare, making meals out of (almost) nothing, washing and folding those tiny clothes, giving up on something I need so that my child can get what she needs, watching her sleep, listening to her baby talk and laugh. These are the moments in life that I am blessed to live.  I may not be a great mom, but am definitely not a terrible mom. For some people out there: No, I'm not a terrible mom just beca

THE NIGHTINGALE @ ATRIA SHOPPING GALLERY

It was the last girls' session of the year 2016 with my very dear friend of 17 years aka my Darling/Drinking Buddy, before she flew off to Japan for the New Year's celebration. We decided to hang out and sip some cocktails at this relatively new bar called The Nightingale. The Nightingale is an intimate bar, occupying the back of Atria Shopping Gallery’s Spitalfield restaurant. It is hidden behind an old London telephone booth and also a book shelf inside the restaurant. Kinda mysterious, eh? Hehe. Wait til you see the list of their cocktails :D There were not many people around at that time. An extensive range of alcohol, from wine to whiskey, was displayed on the shelves behind the bar and they were playing latest hits from the current music charts in the background. We chose to sit on the sofas (more comfy) and the friendly waitress brought us the menu. We looked through the menu and chose our drinks. When one thinks of a cocktail, one usually thinks of Margaritas, Mojitos
