It rained almost the whole day last Saturday. Since it was still raining pretty heavily in the evening and I needed to buy some fresh milk at the same time, we went to the nearby Jaya One for dinner where there are plenty of restaurants/cafes to choose from, a Cold Storage and covered car park. On cool rainy days like this, I usually crave for something hot and soupy like steamboat/bakuteh or something spicy. Thought of eating at Go Noodle House but it was full and there was a queue, so we gave it a pass. Then we saw Streat Thai and immediately the image of a hot bowl of spicy tomyam came to my mind. Yummmzzz. Without second thoughts, we headed straight for it.
The fried omelette was alright, well, how special can an omelette be in the first place? Haha, but my hubby felt like eating it so.... It was loaded with onions.
Possibly the Klang Valley's most distinctive destination for Thai street food, Streat Thai offers a spacious dining area and a kitchen that replicates the scene of food stalls in Thailand selling different types street food, including salads, noodles, stir-frying, BBQ-ing, desserts and beverages. It is said that the chefs were specially handpicked and brought here from the Land of Smiles to cook up a storm.

The menu covers a long list of individual and sharing dishes. Each item is reasonably priced; mostly ranging from RM6.90 to RM15.90. We decided to have the creamy seafood tomyum soup, fried fish cakes and fried plain omelette.
The steamy hot tomyum soup came first - sour, with a generous amount of seafood in it. I would have preferred it to be a lil spicier for some extra oomph, but hubby (who doesn't take as spicy) thought it was just nice. Hehe. It's less creamy than those I've had in other Thai restaurants, which I thought was good coz some have too much coconut milk in them.
When the fish cakes arrived, oh mannn, they smelled fantastic! I couldn't wait to taste it in my mouth BUT aikss, they didn't taste as good as they smelled -_-" Lacking in flavors, they didn't have kick from the spices in them.

Streat Thai serves a less sweetened version of Thai milk tea. I actually preferred this compared to those that taste like 'sugar water', served in most places. You know, nowadays everyone is becoming health conscious and cutting down on sugar.
Overall, we had quite a satisfying dinner there. Service was warm and friendly. I personally felt it was a little too noisy but the setting was meant to imitate the spirit of eating outdoors in Thailand. I'll definitely be back to try their BBQ seafood and som tam :D.

And if you want some entertainment with your meal, live bands play here every Friday and Saturday from 7.30pm to 10.30pm, performing a mixture of Thai and English songs.
Don't put too high expectations on the live band ya. When we were there, she totally killed Adele's Rolling in The Deep by singing in a complete different key from guitar accompaniment. It got so bad that they had to stop halfway and jumped to another song!! Lol!
