SIMPLE HOMEMADE CRANBERRY SAUCE
December 20, 2016Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all da way ~ Christmas mood is in the air. Made some cranberry sauce to go with a chicken dish and meatballs. This sauce is really simple to make and tastes amazing. You can do it a few days ahead so you won't have to worry about it while you're cooking lunch or dinner.
I like it a lil sourish and it is so much better than the canned ones :D |
Ingredients:
(Makes about 1 1/2 cups of sauce)- 1/2 pack of fresh cranberries (170g)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 tsp orange rind
- In a saucepan, boil sugar in orange juice and water, stirring til sugar is dissolved.
- Stir in whole cranberries, turn to low heat and simmer for about 10 mins til the cranberries pop.
- Remove from heat and stir in orange rind. Let cool before popping into the refrigerator. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
